As a freelance editor, I provide copy editing, substantive/scientific editing and development and structural editing to a range of clients. Although I am happy to consider most editing projects, I specialise in the following areas:

Academic editing: My expertise includes anthropology, human geography, environmental studies, arts, humanities and education. I offer editing services to both native and non-native English speakers, and can assist in editing journal submissions, conference papers, essays, dissertations, and so on. I offer two types of editing: copy editing which irons out linguistic and grammatical errors and improves the clarity and flow of the work; and substantive editing which helps to guide the author in improving the academic rigour of the work. I also provide advice on journal submission, recommend appropriate journals and write cover letters to support submission. In addition to taking on clients directly, I regularly freelance for two major international academic editing companies.

Non-fiction: My expertise in non-fiction editing includes travel, environment and nature, self-help and memoir genres. I offer editing services to both native and non-native English speakers, and can assist in editing book manuscripts, magazine submissions, essays, speeches and so on. I offer two types of editing: copy editing which irons out linguistic and grammatical errors and improves the clarity and flow of the work; and developmental editing which guides the development of the structure of the manuscript. In addition to taking on clients directly, I regularly freelance for one of the UK’s biggest self-publishing companies.
