We used to joke when I was a child that the only parts of my mother that we recognized were her ears, because that was all we ever saw poking out from whatever book her head was stuck in. My mother’s love of reading seems to have rubbed off on me. I read fiction and non-fiction and never go anywhere without a book. My taste in fiction generally runs to literary fiction, although living in rural Spain and standing firm against buying a Kindle, I often have to read whatever happens to be available. My non-fiction interests are nature-writing, history, anthropology and most things relating to the Arctic and Antarctic.
Each week, on this page, I publish a review of a book I’ve recently read. Please get in touch with your thoughts. If you have a book that you would like me to review, please contact me.
